This photograph shows the 1924 South Pittsburg, Tennessee High School Football Team. This was South Pittsburg's first high school team. That same year they beat Marion County 27-0 in what would become a heated rivalry that is still fought out on the grid iron each season. This photograph shows the 1928 South Pittsburg, Tennessee High School "Pirate" Football Team. This was South Pittsburg's fourth high school team. The young mascot in front is John Goodgame who would grow up and play for Vanderbilt. Pictured front row left to right are: Kelly Merriman, Dix Tatum, Harold Adcock, Maurice Kyle Patton, James Shelby Cameron, Eugene Neff and Allen Hodges. Second Row left to right are: Frank Carter, Jimmy Humble, Francis Kellerman, T. C. Stewart, Raburn Curry Goodgame, Selman Goodgame and James Paul Sheridan.
