Those in attendence at the Society's Recognition Day ceremony enjoyed refreshments afterwards and enjoyed engaging one another in conversation. To all those who attended and those who could not, the South Pittsburg Historic Preservation Society, Inc. would like say Thanks You for your contributions. We look forward to seeing you at the 2005 Recognition Day.
The South Pittsburg Historic Preservation Society, Inc. held its recognition day for 2004 on the 16th of May at the Chapel on the Hill. Several persons attended the event, which was opened by Society Chairman, Bob Hookey. The event also saw South Pittsburg Mayor, Bob Sherrill, conducting the prayer and introducing the C.C. Singers, with their rendition of "How Great Thou Are." This was followed by a history of the Chapel given by Society member, Helen Clay and a speech by fellow member, Joe Goeller, on the on going projects and further needs of the Society.
A ceremony recognizing contributors to the Society's projects with a presentation of certificates of appreciation was conducted by Gladys Wooten and Bebe Fuqua, who are also active members of the Society. This was followed by member, Cheri Horn, talking on the future use of the Chapel building.
Wrapping up the Recognition Day ceremony was the singing of "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" by the C.C. Singers and a goodbye and invitation to partake of refreshments by member Jane Pellam. These were served by the Recognition Day committee.
